The WAA Education Committee Needs Your Help!
The WAA and the University of British Columbia have joined forces to develop the first comprehensive university-level web analytics program. This award winning program is called the UBC Award of Achievement in Web Analytics is delivered in four, 100% online courses.
If you would like to help with the WAA Education effort, here is what we are working on:
Certification Sub-Committee
Tasked with creating a public Reference document describing "what you need to know and be able to do" to pass the Web Analytics Certification Test, and developing the Certification Test itself along with the means to administer the test.

Update March 1st, 2008
The Certification Sub-Committee of the WAA has started working on the actual WAA Certification Test questions, and is looking for additional volunteers to help with this important task. Volunteers will be writing multiple choice test questions and reviewing / editing questions from other volunteers.
Some Background:
The purpose of the Certification Sub-Committee of the WAA is to create the Test a person will have to take to become a "WAA Certified Web Analyst". What you should know and be able to do to pass the Certification test is covered in the 4 WAA Courses, though you will not have to take the courses to take the Test and become Certified.
In case it's not clear to some folks, the WAA Course Content / Certification Test are not about the installation, configuration or maintenance of tools for web analytics. The Courses are focused on the business side / marketing issues of Site Optimization, Campaign Optimization, and Creating / Managing the Analytical Business Culture. More info here:

Last year, the Certification Sub-Committee completed a document outlining the content of the 4 WAA Courses to be used as a reference so people can understand what they should know and be able to do to pass the Certification Test *without* taking the Courses. This document is currently being edited and will be available publicly in the next month or two.
More on the Task:
This project is a great chance to contribute to what a "Certified Web Analyst" will be. As part of the project, you will be given access to the WAA Course content as needed to develop questions, and will have to sign an NDA regarding the use of the Course Content.
The work is largely done asynchronously using online tools (BaseCamp), so participation time is mostly unstructured. There is a library of professional guidelines / help on writing multiple choice test questions available as part of the online toolset, so you don't have to be a "pro" at writing test questions, just somebody who knows a lot about web analytics!
There are bi-weekly conference calls (free access provided) to address any issues that are not effectively addressed in the online environment, though once things get going, these calls are generally not required and all the interaction takes place online.
You must be an active member of the WAA to participate on a Committee such as this one.
If you are interested in helping to build the future of web analytics (or maybe would just like to check out what it's like writing test questions) contact the .
